Blessings

What a year 2020 has been! Like many of you, our family has faced challenges due to the worldwide pandemic, but rather than list all of our struggles, I want to share with you one of my biggest blessings of 2020.

Long time customers might recall that our logo features the silhouette of my daughter, Caroline. She was 9 years old when I began Dressie Jessie Smocking, and on Saturday she turns 15! Here we are together---

Due to COVID-19, many of Caroline's normal activities came to an abrupt halt. School shifted to virtual learning, summer camps were canceled, movie theaters were closed, etc. The blessing for me was that I got to spend so much more time with my daughter, and during this time, she began to show an interest in Dressie Jessie Smocking. Oh my heart!

This summer she began helping me in my office, and I have to say, she did an AMAZING job! She started by signing packaging slips and then moved on to computer work and fulfilling orders. What a JOY to have my precious daughter working by my side.

She is back in school now. Our county is one of the few in Virginia that offered a full-time in person option, so her role at Dressie Jessie Smocking has been put on hold. I don't know if working with me will be a part of her future or not, but I do know that I will always cherish the summer of 2020 with her.

I snapped a picture from Caroline's baby book to share with you as well. I took this while at the park with my sister. Yes, I dressed her in smocked dresses almost every day (and I wouldn't change it for the world!).

In some ways this feels like yesterday, and in others, it feels like a lifetime ago. Before I had children, I recall asking a friend if she was sad when her only child celebrated her birthday, turning a year older. She smiled right at me and declared, "Oh no! Every stage just gets better and better." That was said to me about 25 years ago, and I still remember her words to this day because what perspective! Please take this to heart, precious mamas. Enjoy each stage and beautiful milestone (first birthday, first day of pre-school, first soccer game, etc.) but take comfort and find joy in knowing that it just gets better and better.

Thanks for allowing me to share my sweet Caroline with you. To celebrate her birthday, we're gifting YOU with an additional 15% off your in-stock purchase through Monday, October 12th with the code BLESSING.

Your comments always bring me such happiness, so I'd love it if you'd leave us a message below. Thank you for being a part of the Dressie Jessie Smocking family!

XO, Jessie

It is a great reminder to reflect on this period and the additional time that we have gotten to spend with family in a positive light! Thanks for continuing to put out quality products and enjoy sharing your business with your daughter!
