I could have never imagined that celebrating 5 years of Dressie Jessie Smocking would occur during the middle of a worldwide pandemic, but here we are. It's emotional in so many ways. Overjoyed that we've successfully hit 5 years. Sad that certain things, like our yearly warehouse sale, have had to be canceled. Uncertainty because no one knows when this is going to end.
During these unsettling times, I've found comfort in watching reruns of one of my all-time favorites, "Little House on the Prairie." If you're laughing at me, it's okay. My teenagers do the same thing! One of the very first episodes is entitled, "A Harvest of Friends." The quick summary is Charles Ingalls ends up hurt, and even though he's new to Walnut Grove, his friends come together to help him through a difficult situation. It occured to me that Dressie Jessie Smocking is here today because of my own "harvest of friends."
Last week I was at the post office dropping off your packages when the postal clerk asked how business was going. I told him we were hanging in there, and he proceeded to tell me that he was with friends the previous weekend and noticed that their daughter was wearing a monogrammed dress. He told them about my company, and it really struck me, this man with no children of his own is promoting my business to others in our community. I am so grateful! He's part of my "harvest of friends."
Last fall, one of my manfacturers flew into Richmond, VA to meet with me about new fabrics and future designs. It was such a "pinch me moment" to realize that this person came all the way to my small town to meet one-on-one with me. While we sat talking and planning I was hit with how blessed I am to work with such a wonderful manufacturer. He has reached out to me multiple times during this pandemic just to check on my family's health and well-being. Again, he's part of my company's "harvest of friends."
My Dressie Jessie Smocking team, my friends, my family, even my UPS and FedEx drivers, they are all a part of Dressie Jessie Smocking's 5-year celebration. But perhaps the biggest part of my "harvest" is you, my loyal and amazing customers. Please know these are not empty words. I wish I could hug each of you! Every time you order, every time you tag me in pictures, every time you share a kind word, you build my company (and me!) up. I'm not sure there is a way to adequately express my appreciation, but please know, I am truly and deeply thankful.

Congratulations on 5 years!! We’ve been dressing our daughter, Lucila Rose, in Dressie Jessie for the last 2.5 and we have so many beautiful memories and photos of her. My mother saved many of our Heirloom quality smocked and handmade dresses (I have 2 sisters), some from Colombia where we are from- I know all the dresses and bubble rompers I’ve purchased for Lucila will become heirloom pieces for my sisters daughters and maybe my own granddaughters! I might not have known this company for 5 years but I just recently had a precious baby boy ( I say recently, but he’ll be turning 1 soon) my does time fly by…but I absolutely love your clothes and designs!! Your children’s clothing is special. It’s become a holiday tradition to buy my granddaughter a Christmas dress from Jessie Smocking and this year I have a new grandson.
