Meet the Joy Family

Dressie Jessie Smocking began in May 2015 as a small idea based on a big dream. I had no idea what was in store, and when I look at where we are today I am completely humbled and grateful. Not only do I get to do what I love, but Dressie Jessie Smocking has allowed me to connect with people across the world in ways I could have never imagined.

Over the past couple of years, thanks to your support, we've been able to contribute to the international adoption funds of four children, all with special medical needs. I'm excited to announce that we are about to make it five children! Thanks to the wonders of the internet, I recently met Marta Joy. Here she is with her family--

Adorable, right? :)  Here is what Marta has to say..

We are Kevin, Marta, Greyson, Kasia and Mila (Mila--adopted from China in 2016). God opened our hearts to Down Syndrome right before we brought our Mila home last year. Around the same time we saw Elora's face and fell absolutely in love. We hoped there was a chance she would be ours. We began sponsoring Elora so that she could receive a life saving surgery. Despite the doctors saying that Elora was too old and that she was inoperable, thousands prayed and fought for her! Donations poured in as Meredith Toering at Morning Star Foundation garnered support. Elora's surgery was a great success! Now the next hurdle--getting the orphanage to write her file. Elora's agency fought for a year to get her file to be written to no avail. We waited and waited, and then we finally sent in a picture of us with Mila to show the orphanage that children with Down Syndrome are loved, wanted and cherished dearly. After 9 months of pleading and prayer, we received a phone call--Elora's file had indeed been prepared! We are so very excited to bring Elora Meredith Joy home!

Let me show you Elora. Just look at this cutie!

The Joy family plans to bring Elora home in June. That is so close! (Although I'm sure it feels far away to them). Now this is where we can help. I have chosen a dress that for me, sums up what is at the heart of every adoption...LOVE. I know that November is the official "National Adoption Awareness Month," but with Valentine's Day quickly approaching, I think it's the perfect time to celebrate adoption and the love these families have for their children.

I am offering our I Love You Dress at a special price of $24.99 because I want to sell out! For each dress sold, $10 will go directly to the Joy family to help offset the cost associated with bringing Elora home. Every child deserves a family. Together, even if in the smallest of ways, we can be part of Elora's story.

If you don't have a little girl that can wear our I Love You Dress, maybe you can gift it to someone--a niece, a granddaughter, a neighbor. It makes my heart smile to think of little girls wearing this dress all to the benefit of a sweet little girl thousands of miles away. (See what I mean, I could have never imagined all of this when I began Dressie Jessie Smocking, and yet, here we are!).

In closing, I want to leave you with one more picture of Elora, a beautiful little girl just waiting on her mom and dad to come get her.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support. I really don't have the words to adequately express my appreciation.

XOXO, Jessie
